Saddle Fitting

As a saddle fitter I cover the south west of England, the south east, and East Anglia, for the Native Pony & Cob Saddle Company, makers of Native Pony and Phoenix saddles.  The saddles are wholly British made – all leatherwork is made by hand in Walsall by expert saddle makers on British trees.  We believe they are the best value Walsall made saddles available, of the highest quality and comparable to products up to double the price.  The saddles cater for a wide range of riding activites and types of horse – most needs can be catered for – but some models are especially suitable for the wider, flatter horse or pony and we have a great deal of experience in this type of specialist fitting.

If you’ve ever had a saddle fitted and been told it’s normal for the saddle to move – whether slipping on mounting, moving up the neck, lifting at the back or showing a general instablity – then give us a try. It is not normal or acceptable for a saddle to move, and we have the right designs, and all the fitting techniques, to solve these instability issues. It’s amazing how much more fun horses can be to ride when you know you can feel secure in your saddle!

I am also more than happy to adjust the flocking in most Walsall-made English leather saddles and am trained to adjust ReactorPanel saddles. Please contact me directly for more information or look here:

From my lovely client Nicky who, with her Welsh section D Victoria,  was ridden M&M reserve champion at the Royal London Show in 2009 shortly after buying her second Native Pony saddle:

“In July 2008 I bought my first Native Pony saddle the glen and received excellent service in fitting and buying. Then in august 2009 I went on to buy my show saddle the Mathew Lawrence half suede, having complete confidence in Stephanie and the company. I found the saddles were by far the best quality I had seen whilst looking around and have tried most other well known saddles. Stephanie is excellent to deal with too, she is very approachable, understanding, and by far very skilled in her job in fitting.  My horse isn’t the easiest to fit but straight away Stephanie and I struck up a brilliant understanding relationship and is very patient in getting everything just right for you and the horse.

I would defiantly recommend the saddles to anyone that they are the best quality and comfortable saddles especially if you have a native pony or a wider withered horse. I love both my saddles.

Nicky a very happy customer”
