I was born and raised in south Norfolk and developed my interest in both art and horses from an early age. Throughout my teens I rode at least weekly at a local riding school (the long missed Rosebrook Farm Equestrian Centre) and on friends’ horses and ponies where I could. I enjoyed drawing pencil portraits, and later dabbled in pastels, as a thank you gift for their owners but it was only after a long gap from anything artistic than I started to develop my abilities beyond O level.
After attending a course at the Watershed Studio on the Essex Coast I settled on chalk pastels as my chosen medium – the depth of colour coupled with the ability to add detail appealed to me. I launched my first website in 2009 and have taken in commissions ever since. Around the same time, I became a saddle fitter and my new customers not only wanted their horses drawn but often their dogs. These days I’m very busy with saddle fitting but I love doing portraits as a change to being out on the road and like to take on just a few commissions a year.
I would consider any unusual animal commissions so do get in touch!
Now living back in Suffolk I am currently “horseless” but am owned by a little fluffball British Shorthair called Lola (or Lolly, Lolly Lu or Lolly Lolly Lu Lu depending on mood) and live with Dann my graphic/web designer other half (who created this site) and Django the Great Dane in the “depths” of the Waveney Valley.
