About the artist

I was born and raised in South Norfolk and developed my interests in both art and horses from an early age.  Throughout my teens I rode at a riding school and on friends’ horses where I could.  Pencil portraits of these horses were usually a welcome thank you gift for their owners but it was only after a long break from anything artistic that I started to develop my abilities beyond O level Art.  After attending a course at the Watershed Studio on the Essex coast I settled on chalk pastels as my chosen medium – the depth of colour coupled with the ability to add detail  appealed to me and I enjoyed working with them.  I launched my first website in 2009 and have been taking commissions ever since.  Then in 2010 existing and new clients started to ask for their dogs to be drawn and it seemed rude not to!

I am very happy to take on portraits of any animal – do contact me to discuss unusual commissions.

Now living in Somerset I’m currently “horseless” but am owned by a greedy tabby cat called Sammy, a young Great Dane called Django, and live with Dann in the depths of the countryside.

Alongside the portraits I’m also a specialist saddle fitter for the Native Pony & Cob Saddle Company.
